Cavalier King Charles
american

The CAVALIER KING CHARLES SPANIEL has been a favorite of the highest society of England ever since the sixteenth century when the breed was developed. King Charles II kept a whole pack of these pretty little spaniels and is said to have spent more time playing with his dogs than tending to the affairs of state.

A close relative of the King Charles Spaniel, the Cavalier King Charles makes its appearance in many portraits of high-ranking ladies by Rubens, Rembrandt and Gainsborough. This is not surprising since this dog combines the virtues of a lap dog - toy size and a real interest in the social activities of a salon - with those of a sporting breed. It loves to go on walks and has an excellent nose. The latter can cause it to manifest a hunting spirit that is quite amazing to see in a luxury dog.

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is an ideal family dog, easy to keep entertained and to teach, always in good spirits, polite and playful, loving and friendly, and easy to handle even for children. It finds all humans delightful and likes to express this feeling with loud enthusiasm.
