Havanese |
The HAVANESE is a delight. Lively and always in good spirits, it will often master the most amazing tricks all by itself, just to get everyone's attention. Its greatest desire is to be included in whatever is happening. Perhaps this trait has something to do with the breed's romantic history. The Havanese was a great favorite of the wealthy upper class of Cuba, and when these people had to leave the country during the Cuban Revolution, some of them took their dogs along as they fled. The Havanese is still quite rare, but it is an adorable little companion dog, and could become a fabulous circus dog and trick performer. It is very intelligent and responds well to obedience training, which is needed because with its great charm, the Havanese will try to run the entire household. The silky coat has to be brushed every other day, but that is just about all the grooming that is required.
